Seeking Lead-Developer for Web2.0 search & review startup in NY Do you have a passion to use web technology for helping people find, connect and communicate? We're looking for a passionate, communicative, hands-on developer, with strong development skills, to help us launch and grow our business. We have a fully functional beta site for and market interest in an online listing, search and review platform that helps consumers and providers to connect with each other. We are looking to capitalize on multiple revenue channels including commissions, lead generation, advertising and subscription. As a co-founder, you role will range from writing code to managing early hires and making strategic decisions. Your responsibilities are architecting, implementing and managing our online platform. Providing overall technical guidance, ideas, and leadership. Using your tech savvy to solve business problems and create business opportunities. You should enjoy writing code, but as importantly have an eye for design and user experience. This is a hands on, collaborative role, and is integral to the company's success. First order of business for the Developer will be to transition our entire site from our web developer to a new home. The site was built using Grails (http://grails.org/). Secondly, we want to scale our website and migrate to Amazon. Concurently, we will seek your input on improving all areas of our site and our business model. The Developer will make substantive contributions to the development process beyond simply managing it. He or she will also be deeply involved in product strategy, feature prioritization and business strategy. Nothing is off limits, we are looking for a true partner. Skills Motivated self-starter / entrepreneurial / excellent communicator Business-sense / solutions-focused / loves continuous learning Flexible and able to work in a start-up environment Experience with Grails, Java, JQuery, MySQL, PHP, HTML + JavaScript Strong database scaling experience and prior work with Amazon Web Services a huge plus. Knowledge of Java script and AJAX (Looking for someone who will not get freaked out by Java script or Ajax code) Knowledge of current Web 2.0 technologies (know the "cool" programmer trends that are floating around the internet) Demonstrated ability to apply Web development best practices with respect to scalability, security, usability, load-time, and basic search engine optimization, web analytics is also important. Prior social network, Facebook connect/app, Google Maps API, and mobile development experience are strong pluses but not necessary. Compensation Our company is self-funded by two founders, and employs 2-3 part time employees. We are looking to raise a Series A asap.
