About role:

- Lead Grails developer required in Central London to play a key role in the design and development of innovative Web 2.0 applications.

- Working as part of a small team within a well-known online publisher you will be responsible for delivering exciting new products.

- You will be involved in managing an outsourced team in the Ukraine, do peer code reviews, contribute suggestions for new products, architecture + application design and technical leadership of other developers.

- You must have strong experience with building scalable applications.

- This role is perfectly suited to someone who is looking to be a CTO in a few years, we give you a lot of rope to learn.

Must haves:

- Grails/Java/Groovy

- Spring/Hibernate

- SQL (ideally MySQL)

- Servlet container experience - e.g. Tomcat, Jetty

- XML technologies

- Web development - XHTML/GSP, AJAX, CSS, Javascript

- Team leadership experience

- Subversion (or other source control)

- Experience of working in an Agile environment

- a strong understanding of scalable web applications (caching, clustering, grid computing, etc)

- Lucene/Compass experience would be beneficial
