SRA’s Air Programs and Climate Change account in Charlottesville, VA is seeking IT professionals to develop and implement major domestic and international air emissions reporting and trading systems. Specifically, we are looking for software developers with familiarity with web-facing information data systems to assist us in implementing a new market tracking system. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 3 years of professional software development experience.
A successful applicant will enjoy pushing the limits of technology on significant projects, working in a highly collaborative Agile environment, and will have stellar technical and communications skills. We're looking for someone who can contribute quality software, promote testing, mentor, and help continually improve our processes.
Opportunities are primarily located in, but not limited to, our Charlottesville, VA office. Our work environment encourages co-located agile team efforts; however, we are also actively developing support for teleworking arrangements.
Required Skills:
- 1-2 years of experience
- Experience working in software development teams on several moderate to complex custom software development projects
- Understanding of software design, architecture, methods to produce quality, low-defect code, testing, and ability to convert requirements into working code
- Effective writing and communication skills
Experience with:
- JVM development languages, such as Java and Groovy
- One or more Java frameworks, such as Hibernate, Spring, and Grails
- Relational database design and implementation
- Security (application, network, and data integrity)
- Web application development
- Application lifecycle tools
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Agile practices
- Incorporating accessibility standards in software design
- Windows and Linux deployment environments
- Familiarity with Grails web development, or other convention over configuration development models
